Option 1: Landscape Show Garden and Outdoor Feature Sites
Application and Approval Process
These Landscape Show Garden and Outdoor Feature sites are located within the Carlton Gardens and are identified by a purple circle on the Show Map. These sites are allocated on the strength of your submitted design plan.
Applicants wishing to exhibit at MIFGS in one of these sites are asked to complete an Exhibitor Application Form and supply the Show Organisers with a design plan. We request a copy of your proposed garden design as sites are allocated on the strength of your submitted design plan and also to ensure that we do not position two similar displays within close proximity to one another.
Show Organisers will be unable to accept any application without a proposed design plan.
If your application is successful, you will then be required to meet with the Show Organisers to discuss your design, specifically your method of construction / installation.
After this meeting, you will be required to submit a scale version of your final design plan outlining your construction method so that the City of Melbourne can approve your plan.
The 2013 Show Map will be available here mid year and will show the location of each Landscape Show Garden and Outdoor Feature.
Landscape Show Garden Judging and Garden Design
Before the Show commences, you will be required to submit a ‘Design Brief'. This is a key component in the judging of Landscape Show Garden displays. Your Design Brief will include:
- A design drawing of the proposed garden, to scale, provided in A4 page format; and
- A written concept paper outlining the design intention and providing a full plant and material list provided in A4 page format.
A copy of this submission is also provided to the Show's Public Relations company to ensure all media opportunities are maximised leading up to the event.
When designing your Landscape Show Garden display, it is important to know that all landscape displays will be viewed by the public from the front and sides. Public access into the Landscape Show Gardens is discouraged unless prior permission is sought from the Show Organisers.
Exhibitors are encouraged to produce a copy of their design plan, identifying the name of all plants used within the display, for public viewing. This plan can be presented as signage within the display or as a flyer for interested parties to take away.
